One of the best books to learn excellent general rules for designing for the web. Covers usability, navigation, how people actually surf the web. A must read.

In every web designers library. A great reference book for learing html.

CSS: The Definitive Guide
Covers CSS in depth. More technically inclined but has everything you would ever want to know about CSS.

CSS Pocket Reference
A small reference book for CSS attributes and rules.

Head First Javascript + AJAX
Another great book from Head First Labs. This one focusing on learning javascript.
